Hello Doolittle Families,

Next Week most of our 6th graders will attend Nature’s Classroom!
I love that Doolittle School 6th graders get to participate in a full week at Nature’s Classroom each year.

We consider Nature’s Classroom to be school in an alternate location – It’s NOT a just field trip! Students are outside and on-the-go all week. They participate in many activities and learn from Nature’s Classroom Teachers who have expertise in a variety of fields.

The experience helps them deepen the friendships they have created as well as build new relationships with other classmates. Nature’s Classroom is a great way to prepare our students for the additional responsibility that they will take on in Middle School. It shows them that they can take care of themselves.

More information is available at their website:

Hello Doolittle Families,

We have had a busy week back from vacation. SBAC testing has started for students in grades 5 and 6. The SBAC test replaced the CMT a few years ago. The SBAC test is done on-line and is shorter than the old CMT test as well. Students have about three hours of English Language Arts testing spread over two days and about four hours of Math testing spread out over 4 days. Results of the testing will be available in the Fall.

The Connecticut Commissioner of Education is sponsoring an essay contest for students in grades 5-8. Parents are welcome to have their child participate and send in an entry.   My Teacher Has Inspired Me...

The “Buy One Get One Free” Book Fair this week was great! Many thanks to the PTA and volunteers who helped make it a success.

Beautiful Signs of Spring at Doolittle!
